AR conducts fogging in Bishnupur’s Oinam village

Imphal: On October 16, 2024, Assam Rifles carried out a large-scale anti-mosquito fogging operation in Oinam Village and the IDP Camp in Bishnupur district, Manipur. The initiative was launched in response to the increasing cases of dengue fever in the state, aiming to protect the health of residents and curb the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, particularly dengue.

Dengue fever remains a major public health concern in Manipur, with affected areas including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Bishnupur. Recent outbreaks in these regions have highlighted the urgent need for preventive measures. Assam Rifles responded by conducting fogging operations in key areas of Oinam Village and the IDP Camp to control the mosquito population.

In addition to the fogging efforts, local residents were educated on crucial preventive strategies to combat dengue. These included eliminating mosquito breeding sites, using insect repellents and protective clothing, and encouraging regular health check-ups to reinforce surveillance efforts, according to a press note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
