Assam Rifles pays tribute to bravehearts in Tengnoupal

Imphal: Assam Rifles, under the command of the Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), held a heartfelt “Wreath Laying Ceremony” at the Battalion Headquarters in Tengnoupal, commemorating 18 valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives during “Operation Hifazat” in Manipur on August 18, 1994.

On that day, a special operation was initiated in the Sangkhomei Willong region. As the unit advanced through the dense Yangkhullen jungle, they came under heavy insurgent fire. In the face of grave danger, Lance Naik Bikram Singh and 17 fellow soldiers demonstrated remarkable courage by charging toward the militants.
