78th I-Day celebrated with enthusiasm in Kamjong

August: The 78th Independence Day was marked with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit throughout Kamjong district. The main event took place at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School playground, where Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, was the Chief Guest.

The celebration began with the Deputy Commissioner hoisting the National Tricolor, followed by the National Anthem. This ceremony was attended by administrative officers, government officials, public leaders, students, and residents of the district. The DC reviewed the parade contingents and received a salute from the units led by Semmi Ramror, MPS, Additional SP of Kamjong.

In his address, DC Rangnamei Rang Peter paid tribute to the sacrifices and patriotic values of India’s freedom fighters. He urged all government employees to dedicate themselves to providing efficient, transparent, and accountable administration. Additionally, he called on the community to work together for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the region.

Highlighting the issue of drug abuse, the DC urged public, civil societies, NGOs, and students to intensify efforts against the drug menace. He advised the youth to avoid drugs and other harmful activities and urged parents to monitor their children’s activities and social circles. A pledge for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also taken.

The event included cultural performances and the presentation of commendation certificates to outstanding public servants.

Attendees included the SP of Kamjong, SDO, CMO, high-ranking officers from the BSF and Assam Rifles, DLOs of Kamjong, public leaders, CSO representatives, village headmen, church leaders, teachers, and students.

Similar Independence Day celebrations were held across other sub-divisions of Kamjong district.
