Large cache of arms and ammunition recovered in Manipur

Earlier, on July 5, 2024, based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the village of Yangoubung in Tengnoupal District, Manipur, the Assam Rifles conducted an area domination patrol.

Imphal: Acting on specific intelligence reports, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched an operation on July 6, 2024, in the general area of S Mongpi Ridge, Kangpokpi district, Manipur. 

During this operation, two bunkers were destroyed, and a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, including one improvised .303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, one 12 bore single barrel gun, two long-range improvised mortars, and other war-like stores. The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police.

Earlier, on July 5, 2024, based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the village of Yangoubung in Tengnoupal District, Manipur, the Assam Rifles conducted an area domination patrol. 

This operation led to the recovery of one lathode gun, one 9mm pistol, four locally made “pompi” guns, one locally made mortar, two single barrel guns, and various ammunition. These items were also handed over to the Manipur Police, as stated in a press note from the PRO IGAR(S).
