Imphal: Shanta Laishram, Professor of Mathematics and Head of the Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Unit at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi Centre, has been invited to speak at the International Conference on Fibonacci Numbers and Their Applications. The conference will be held in Claremont, USA, from July 8 to July 12, 2024.
Prof. Laishram’s talk will focus on “Terms of Lucas Sequences which are Products of Catalan Numbers and Related Results.”
During his month-long visit to the USA, he will also visit several academic institutions:
- California State University from July 13 to July 19, 2024
- Xavier University of Louisiana from July 19 to July 27, 2024
- Purdue University Northwest from July 29 to August 1, 2024
Prof. Shanta Laishram’s research interests include Number Theory and Cryptography. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the School of Mathematics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, after graduating with a degree in Mathematics Honours from D. M. College of Science, Imphal, in 2001. He received the Harish Chandra Memorial Award in 2008 for the best Ph.D. thesis in Mathematics at TIFR Mumbai.
He undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Pure Mathematics, University of Waterloo, Canada, from August 2007 to August 2009. Prof. Laishram joined the Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi, as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics in July 2010 and was promoted to Professor of Mathematics in December 2020.
