Army commemorates International Albinism Awareness day in Manipur

Kohima: In observance of International Albinism Awareness Day, the Indian Army organized a dental and medical camp at S Kawtlian in Churachandpur district, Manipur, on Wednesday. This initiative aimed to provide healthcare services to Internally Displaced People (IDPs), locals, and villagers from nearby areas.

The event was a collaborative effort between Indian Army doctors and medical specialists from the District Hospital, Churachandpur, offering a range of healthcare services and an educational lecture on albinism awareness.

The camp saw an impressive turnout, with over 257 individuals of all ages participating, including 87 children and 110 women.

A dedicated team of Army dental and medical officers, along with nursing assistants and four ENT, surgical, and medical specialists, conducted thorough healthcare checkups, ensuring immediate medical attention for those in need.

In addition to medical examinations, the camp featured a medicine counter to distribute essential medications post-checkup. The medical officer from the Army delivered an awareness lecture focusing on albinism, general healthcare measures, hygiene, preventive healthcare, and balanced nutrition. The camp also included a lecture and demonstration on CPR and lifesaving skills.
