Kohima: Commemorating the International Day of Biological Diversity, Spear Corps of Indian Army organised a tree plantation drive at South Point High School, Maulsang in Churachandpur district of Manipur. 

The event was attended by over 50 students and their teachers. Children planted saplings of various fruit-breaking and ornamental trees on the school premises.

An address on the importance of having green cover in maintaining ecological balance was delivered highlighting the need to preserve biodiversity and progressive practices in making the environment serene.

Students participated in the event with a great amount of zeal and enthusiasm. At the end of the program the organising team, students and teachers administered a pledge to protect the biodiversity of their region.
