Manipur’s Class XII exam results declared, records 97.63% pass percentage

Thoubal district is the top-performing district this year at 99.58 per cent, followed by Bishnupur and Imphal East districts at 99.19 per cent and 99.02 per cent respectively.

Imphal: The Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) has declared the class XII results 2024 on Monday. As many as 97.63 per cent have cleared the 12th exam, the highest in years.  

Like in previous years, girls have outperformed boys yet again. However, the good news is that government schools/colleges have secured 95.49 per cent, only 2.69 per cent less than private schools and colleges.

The pass percentage of 2022 and 2023 were 90.09 per cent and 88.68 per cent respectively. Thoubal district is the top-performing district this year at 99.58 per cent, followed by Bishnupur and Imphal East districts at 99.19 per cent and 99.02 per cent respectively. Ukhrul is the least-performing district this year at 85.95 per cent. 

Thokchom Sheityajit of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham secured first position in Arts Stream, while Malemnganbi Laishram of Comet School, Changangei, Ucheckon, secured first position in Science. Aiena Naorem of Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kakching bagged first position in Commerce. 

Interestingly, among the top 18 position holders in Arts, Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpham bagged up to 12 positions. Only two students from government school/s (TG Higher Secondary School, Imphal) secured positions at 2nd and 10th respectively.

In Science, seventy-eight students shared their positions, except from 1st to seventh positions. Unfortunately, not a single student from government school/s could secure a position in any of these.

In Commerce, only one student from government school/s could secure a position at 2nd.

According to officials, a total of 31,352 students enrolled for the exam but 31,128 candidates appeared for the exam. The exam result was declared by L Nandakumar Singh, Director, Education-S at the office of the Higher Secondary School, Babapura, Imphal.
