Kohima: On the occasion of World Earth Day, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Bishnupur Forest Division and local communities in Manipur, planted over 500 trees in Kumbi, Saiton and Siden of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts symbolising a collective commitment to environmental sustainability.
Through this collaborative effort, the Army underscored the importance of unified action in addressing climate-related challenges, advocating for the preservation of our delicate ecosystems.
Further, in Kakopathar, Assam, Army organised a lecture on the theme of World Earth Day for students and teachers at Kakopathar Senior Secondary School followed by a plantation drive in the school premises, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation, instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility among the youth towards their surroundings.
Army’s proactive approach towards environmental conservation through awareness campaigns, plantation drives and encouraging sustainable practices, highlights that, Indian Army is not only contributing to national security but is also shaping the nation’s well-being through its green initiatives in the North-East region of India.
