Imphal: Amid widespread accusation and condemnation, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur has directed Saturday that repoll in 11 polling stations will be conducted in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency on April 22.
The decision was made following a directive from the Election Commission, which declared the initial polls held on April 19 null and void, necessitating a new round of voting.
The repoll will begin from 7 am to 5 pm, a notification from the CEO Manipur said.
Meanwhile, the Congress had demanded repoll in 47 polling stations in Manipur alleging that booths were captured and elections to two Lok Sabha constituencies were rigged.
The incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs at some polling booths and allegations of booth capturing were reported.
The Polling Station that will undergo repolling are: 3-Khurai, 3/11- Sajeb (A), Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School; 3-Khurai, 3/21-Khurai Thongam Leikai, S. Ibobi Primary School (East Wing), Khurai Thongam Leika; 4-Kshetrigao 4/43-Bamon Kampu (North-A), Bamon Kampu Upper Primary School; 4-Khetrigao, 4/44-Bamon Kampu (North-B), Pioneer Academy; 4-Khetrigao, 4/45-Bamon Kampu (South West), Irilbung High School (North Wing); 4-Khetrigao, 4/46-Bamon Kampu (South East) Irilbung High School (South Wing); 5-Thongju, 5/31-Khongman Zone-V(A) National Children’s School; 10-Uripok, 10/1-Iroishemba Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Eastern Wing); 10-Uripok, 10/6-Iroishemba Mamang Leikai, Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Western Wing); 10-Uripok, 10/7-Iroishemba Mayai Leikai, Iroisemba Upper Primary School (Middle Wing) and 18-Konthoujam 18/22-Khaidem Makha Khaidem Primary School (Southern Wing).
All 32 assembly segments of the inner Manipur and 15 assembly segments of the outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency voted for the Lok Sabha.
The voting for the remaining 13 segments of Outer Manipur will be held in the second phase on April 26.
