Imphal: An office memorandum issued by the Deputy Secretary (GAD) on Friday stated that as the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in place in Manipur, no State Guest facilities would be extended to any Minister, non-officials and accompanying staff visiting any place in Manipur State from March 16, 2024, till the Election Commission publishes notification regarding the formation of Lok Sabha.Â
Only security, as per the entitled scale will be provided to the visiting Ministers, Non-officials and accompanying staff, it added.
The Election Commission of India issued notifications for General Elections to the House of the People (Lok Sabha), 2024 on March 16, 2024. As per the notification, elections in Manipur are scheduled for April 19 and 25.
As a result, the Model Code of Conduct(MCC) has come into force with immediate effect from March 16, 2024 and will remain effective until the Election Commission publishes the notification regarding the formation of the Lok Sabha and the result of the election is declared.
The office memorandum also directed all the concerned administrative secretaries, HoDs and officers to adhere strictly to the Model Code of Conduct during this period.
