Imphal: On February 23, 2024, Assam Rifles along with Lilong Police and Thoubal Police Commandos successfully rescued Khairuz Zaman and apprehended one kidnapper from Lilong, Thoubal district in Manipur.
The victim was kidnapped by Sajid Khan resident of Lilong Chanda Khong Mamei from Lilong on February 22, 24 and a monetary demand of rupees 6 Lakh was placed in place of release.
Acting upon a timely input, combined teams of Assam Rifles and police moved swiftly and extracted the victim without any untoward incident. The motive behind the kidnapping and any potential connections to other incidents is under scrutiny, according to après note from the PRO, IGAR(S).
