Manipur police apprehend one KYKL cadre, pistol seized

Manipur Police also arrested one Md. Toncha from Bishnupur District for illicit trafficking of 10 soap cases containing suspected contraband Heroin powder.

Imphal: Manipur Police Friday arrested one active member of outlaw organisation, KYKL, who was allegedly involved in the assault of truck drivers at Sekmai on the night of February 16.

The cadre has been identified as R K Jitensana alias Nanao, 43, of Pangei Leiram Mapan, near Manipur Police Training Centre.

One 9mm pistol (suspected to be snatched from security forces) along with one magazine loaded with 11 rounds, two mobile phones, one wallet containing Rs. 1010, and one Aadhaar card were recovered from him.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Manipur Police arrested one Md. Toncha alias Nezimmudin, 24, of Kwakta Ward No. 8 (KMC) from Bishnupur District for illicit trafficking of 10 soap cases containing suspected contraband Heroin powder. A case has been registered at PGCI PS for further investigation.

Security forces along with the District administration conducted an intensive poppy plant destruction drive at Sadim hill ranges of Senapati district in which 9 acres of poppy plantation were destroyed on Thursday. A case has been registered at Senapati PS for further investigation.

About the Manipur Police Headquarters order dated February 14, 24, regarding the transfer and posting of 177 personnel of all communities of MR/IR units to various units, it is informed that the transfer and posting has been done to streamline the excess manpower against the sanctioned post available in all MR/IR units and to facilitate the process for preparation of their salaries. 

However, because of the present crisis, there is no immediate movement of the personnel required at this stage, according to a press note from the Police Control Room Manipur Police.
