New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and a member of parliament, is scheduled to go on the ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ from January 14 to March 20, following the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The starting point of the 6200-kilometre Bharat Nyaya Yatra is Imphal, Manipur, and it ends in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The news was announced and confirmed by AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal at a conference.

In the lead-up to the national elections scheduled for the summer of 2024, the Yatra will traverse 14 states, with a focus on justice, from Manipur, to Mumbai.

Following the Congress Working Committee’s (CWC) December 21 urging of Gandhi to embark on another yatra, Gandhi decided to go on this yatra in January 2024. Congress leader KC Venugopal announced the yatra on Wednesday.

According to the Congress party’s announcement on Wednesday, it will encompass 85 districts and 14 states, including Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The Yatra is primarily a bus trip, with occasional brief walks too.

Venugopal stated that 85 districts and 14 states will be covered by the yatra. In addition to referring to Manipur as one of the crucial regions in the Northeast, he said that the state’s wounds needed to be healed because, since May, ethnic violence has resulted in thousands of people being displaced and over 175 fatalities.

The Yatra will be launched by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and will take place shortly before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi is expected to engage with women, youth, and marginalised groups during the march.

Gandhi finished the greatest foot march in the nation last year, known as the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The 150-day Bharat Jodo Yatra began in Kanyakumari in September 2022 and ended in Srinagar in January 2023. During that walk, Gandhi covered more than 4,000 km.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh stated that while Rahul Gandhi raised three issues during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, they are now the focus of the Bharat Nyay Yatra:economic justice, social justice, and political justice.
