Washington: There was no so-called protective interest linked to an incident involving a car that hit President Joe Biden’s motorcade while he was leaving his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday night, US Secret Service spokesperson Special Agent Steve Kopek told Sputnik.

“Today, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Secret Service vehicle securing the President’s motorcade route was struck by another vehicle in Wilmington, DE [Delaware],” Kopek said on Sunday.

“There was no protective interest associated with this event, and the President’s motorcade departed without incident.”

Earlier in the day, the White House press pool reported that a car hit a truck shielding Biden’s motorcade at the entrance of his campaign headquarters.

The White House press pool said there was a loud bang as Biden was standing outside by a vehicle with a “surprised expression” on his face.

US Secret Service agents reportedly cornered the car and pulled their weapons on the driver, who held his hands up.
