Patna: An IAS officer and an Additional Health Secretary Ravishankar Choudhary along with 53 others died due to coronavirus infection during the past 24 hours in Bihar, where the recovery rate slipped and 12672 fresh cases detected during the period.
According to health department sources with 54 death during the past 24 hours, the death toll due to COVID 19 rose to 2010 so far.
The sources said that 24 people died due to COVID 19 at Nalanda Medical College Hospital Patna during the past 24 hours .
The IAS officer Mr Choudhary who was undergoing treatment for the past several days in AIIMS Patna died on Friday. Earlier former RJD MLA Kunti Devi died due to the infection at PMCH.
The recovery rate declined to 79.28 percent in the state during the past 24 hours.
Patna with 2801 fresh cases accounts for 22.1 percent of the total new cases detected during the past 24 hours in the state. Patna was followed by Gaya with 816, Aurangabad 748,
Muzaffarpur 704, Saran 617 and Begusarai 607.
Purnia, Bhagalpur, Nalanda, Munger, Vaishali,
West Champaran and Rohtas each reported more than 300 cases , East Champaran , Katihar, Jamui, Khagaria, Madhubani, Samastipur, Siwan and Supaul each with more than 200 cases while Araria, Arwal, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gopalganj, Jehanabad, Kaimur, Lakhisarai, Madhepura and Saharsa had more than 100 cases each.
Meanwhile Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced for free treatment to the coronavirus patients At Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Patna.
Mr Kumar said that concerned authorities have been asked to make all ventilators functional at all hospitals in the districts.
