Imphal: The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) congratulated Colonel Ngangbam Chingkheinganba Khuman (Adm. No. 947) on this great achievement and wished him good luck, success and more laurels in all his future endeavors! on being approved for the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army.
Colonel Ngangbam Chingkheinganba Khuman, son of Late Ng. Roman Singh and Ng. Priyosakhi Devi of Kangla Sangomshang was born in the year 1977. He did his initial schooling in his village with guidance from his uncle Late Ng. Manglemjao Singh and later completed his secondary education at Sainik School Imphal in 1994. The officer belongs to the 16th Batch of Sainik School Imphal, bearing Adm. No. 947. He was a keen sportsman, a busy learner, always cheerful and a well-disciplined cadet while in school.
Officer joined the National Defence Academy in 1994 and graduated from the prestigious Tri Services Academy in 1997 where his performance was exemplary. He joined the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1997 and was commissioned into the 4th Battalion, The 9th Gorkha Rifles, in 1998.
During his illustrious career of 26 years, the officer has held various important Staff and Instructional Appointments and has served in challenging areas in J&K and North East. As a Major, he held a Diplomatic Appointment as Assistant Military Attaché in Kathmandu for three years, where he was awarded with Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card. Officer Commanded his Battalion in an active Line of Control Environment in Jammu. Officer attended the Higher Command Course in the year 2017-18, along with Col Ningombam Hemachandra who is also now approved for the rank of Brigadier. The officer is presently posted as a Deputy Commander of an Infantry Brigade. He is an avid reader and sportsman.
Mention may be made that within a period of three months, this is the second of such achievement by Ex-Cadets/Alumni of Sainik School Imphal in which two officers had been approved for the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army besides other achievements in other fields by various other Ex-Cadets’ of Sainik School Imphal.
