STF arrest two wildlife criminals, recovers two leopard skins from them

Bhubaneswar: A team of STF has arrested two wildlife criminals from Rayagada district and seized the skin of two leopards and other incriminating materials from them.

STF sources here on Wednesday said, acting on a tip-off, a STF team conducted a raid on Tamparbiduni Chhak under the Chandili Police Station Jurisdiction in Rayagada on Tuesday and arrested the accused.

The STF identified the accused as Bikram Majhi and Raja Majhi.

During the search, two leopard skins and other incriminating materials were recovered from them.

The accused persons will be forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Rayagada.

In this connection, a case under U/s 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. Sec.51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, was registered.

The skins will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun, for biological examination. An investigation is going on.
