Tripura CM urges Gadkari to speed up state’s road projects

He pointed out as many as 16 projects have been implemented through NHIDCL and state PWD, spending Rs 3977 crore and creating 383 kms road.

Agartala: Tripura demanded to expedite the road project of 265 km worth Rs 4607 crore pending with the central government and the expansion of the National Highway to 4-lane, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said here on Wednesday after attending the review meeting of Union Minister of Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday in Guwahati.
“I thank Gadkariji for sanctioning different NH projects for the development of connectivity in the region over the last nine years. The length of National Highways in Tripura has increased from 509 km to 914 km during Modiji’s tenure,” Dr Saha said, adding that Gadkariji sanctioned Rs 9034 Cr has been sanctioned for 31 national highways in the region.
He pointed out as many as 16 projects have been implemented through NHIDCL and state PWD, spending Rs 3977 crore and creating 383 kms road.
At present, ” construction of 225 km of road at the cost of Rs 5057 crore is going on under 15 projects, and by December this year, at least eight projects are expected to be completed,” it said.
The expansion of roads will facilitate alternative connectivity for different districts, sub-divisions, blocks, markets, tourist places, and tribal areas, he said, and he assured that the state’s all-out cooperation in regard to land acquisition, diversion of forest, and utilities would be extended to speed up the construction.
