Two more judges appointed in Tripura High Court

According to the official communiqué, Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha was appointed as a judge of the Tripura High Court, while Biswajit Palit was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court for a period of two years from the date they assumed charges.

Agartala: The Ministry of Law and Justice on Wednesday announced the appointment of two judicial officers of Tripura as judges in the High Court of Tripura as per the recommendation of Supreme Court Collegiums headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud last week.
According to the official communiqué, Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha was appointed as a judge of the Tripura High Court, while Biswajit Palit was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court for a period of two years from the date they assumed charges.
The Supreme Court Collegium on October 10 recommended their appointment as high court judges. Earlier, the High Court Collegium had recommended their names in December 2021. Biswajit Palit is the incumbent law secretary of Tripura, and Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha is the member secretary of the Tripura State Legal Service Authority.
With the latest appointments, Tripura High Court will soon function at its full sanctioned strength of five judges.
