Durgapur: An un-estimated numbers of valuable documents, including that of planning, construction of buildings in the locality and industries of this industrial town were destroyed in a major fire that broke out in the office of Asansol-Durgapur Development Authority in West Bengal’s West Midnipur in the early hours on Tuesday, official sources said.
However, there was no report of human casualty in the fire, which was noticed by the security guards around 01 30 hours and was brought under control around 06 00 hours, sources added.
At least 10 fire fighting vehicles were pressed into the services to control the inferno. Fire fighting personnel
from the Andal airport, camp from CISF and the local authorities were engaged to combat the fire.
All government documents were burnt to ashes, they said. The extent of the damage was unclear, sources added.
