Japanese PM to meet with Iranian Prez at UNGA

In his address to the UNGA, Kishida will present Japan's view on global issues and promote cooperation agenda with a focus on nuclear disarmament, Kyodo reported.

Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is planning to hold a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, while no talks are scheduled with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Kyodo news agency reported on Tuesday, citing government officials.
In his address to the UNGA, Kishida will present Japan’s view on global issues and promote cooperation agenda with a focus on nuclear disarmament, Kyodo reported.
“I will convey Japan’s unique concepts, such as human security and human-centered international cooperation [at the UNGA],” Kishida was quoted as saying by the news outlet.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, the country’s first female foreign minister, will attend the UNGA as well, Kyodo reported.
The UNGA High-Level Week is taking place in New York from September 19-26.
