Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang District Police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 10.54 grams of suspected heroin from their possession, West Siang SP Abhimanyu Poswal said on Monday.
On being tipped off that one Mikjum Ete (a local youth) along with his friend Raju Vishwakarma was transporting contraband in a car towards Aalo via Likabali-Aalo road, when a police team led by Aalo PS OC Inspector Duto Bagra conducted naka at Darka bridge near Darka village on Sunday night. The cops then intercepted the said vehicle and apprehended the occupants, Mikjum Ete and Raju Vishwakarma.
During body search, one packet of polythene concealed in a soap case containing suspected heroin weighing 10.54 gram was recovered and seized in presence of Executive Magistrate Maryom Karlo and independent witnesses in the members of PAYWA (Paktu Aao Youth Welfare Association). Also, two mobile handsets and the vehicle were seized.
Accordingly, following registration of a case at Aalo Police Station, the alleged accused persons were arrested and remanded to police custody, the SP said.
