Jagtial (Telangana): A cloud of suspicion looms over the inexplicable demise of a 24-year-old woman, accompanied by the puzzling disappearance of her sister, at Bheemunidubba in Korutla town within this district on Tuesday.
According to the local police, the deceased has been identified as Deepthi (24), a software engineer who had been working remotely from her residence.
The parents of the sisters had departed for Hyderabad to partake in a function on Sunday. Until 2200 hours on Monday, contact with their daughters remained intact.
However, on Tuesday afternoon, when they attempted to communicate, Deepti’s phone went unanswered, and her sister Chandan’s phone was powered off. Concerned, the parents sought assistance from their neighbors.
A neighbour who visited their residence made a grim discovery – Deepthi’s lifeless body was found on the sofa, while Chandana was nowhere to be found.
Swiftly informed, the police arrived at the scene. Upon investigation, two liquor bottles and traces of snakes were found. Surveillance footage from the nearby bus stand revealed Chandana boarding a Nizamabad-bound bus in the company of a male companion.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway, police added.
