Imphal: At least three suspected Kuki militants were killed in an early morning gunfight in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on Friday.
Reports said the incident happened at Thowai Kuki village, which lies on Imphal-Jeshami road. Three villagers were reportedly killed in the incident. The lifeless bodies of the missing trio were recovered after a search by local villagers, sources said.
How and with whom the gunfight broke out could not be independently ascertained. However, their lifeless bodies were found near a bunker.
The three people have been identified as Jamkhogin Haokip, 26, son of Doukholu Haokip; Thangkhokai Haokip, 35, Doulet Haokip and Hollenson Baite, 24, son of Lhunkhothang Baite. More details awaited
