Agartala: Tripura has registered as many as 557 Dengue cases in the past three weeks, health officials said on Sunday.
The highest number of cases – 362 – have been reported in Sepahijala, followed by 163 in West Tripura and 29 in Unokoti districts.
Health officials said all three districts have borders with neighbouring Bangladesh. with transborder mosquito movement suspected to be the reason for the Denguen transmission in the state’s border villages.
Officials stated the health department has categorised 1122 patients as suspected cases of Dengue as they are detected positive in the antigen test. A special unit has been made operational at Agartala Govt Medical College hospital for treating Dengue patients.
Besides, incidences of Malaria infection have increased manifolds and the cumulative caseload of the state this year stands at 14,113 including 9,859 exclusively from Dhalai district, which is known as the hotbed of the vector-borne disease, officials said adding, “As many as 29 Dengue and 78 new cases of Malaria have been diagnosed in Tripura in the past two days”.
