Imphal: As in the State capital Imphal, Patriots Day was celebrated in various districts of Manipur In memory of the great souls who sacrificed their lives in the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891 against the mighty British imperialism.
Im Bishnupur, District Administration observed the Patriots’ Day, 2023 Sunday at the Conference Hall, DC Office , Bishnupur.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur District Lourembam Bikram, told that the state is facing an unprecedented crisis and it affects the law and order situation, displaced so many people and more than 8000 inmates are taking shelter in different relief camps of the Bishnupur District.
As part of today’s Patriots’ Day observation, earlier this morning, District Information Office, Bishnupur played patriotic songs to revive the sense of patriotism on the important roads of Bishnupur District.
Patriots’ Day was also observed Sunday organised by the District Administration Thoubal at the DC Office Complex in memory of those heroes who sacrificed their lives in the 1891 Anglo-Manipuri War. Wreath-laying ceremony and floral tributes at the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General were paid by the officials led by Deputy Commissioner A. Subhash Singh, IAS and SP Thoubal Shri Sachidananda Soibam, MPS as a mark of respect and reverence to the forefathers who made supreme and selfless sacrifice against the mighty British.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said Patriots’ Day is observed every year on 13th August in remembrance of those brave sons of Manipur who chose death over surrendering the sovereignty of their motherland to the British and laid down their lives gracefully.
As observed in various parts of the state and other parts of the country, District Administration Chandel today observed Patriots’ Day at DC complex Chandel. The observance, which was led by Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, was attended by SP Chandel, Addl. SP Chandel, ADC Chandel, District Level Officers, police personnel and other officers and staff of District Administration,Chandel.
