Yangon: Myanmar authorities have seized 22 kilograms of heroin in the country’s central region of Mandalay, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late Sunday.
Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police raided a house in Pyigyitagun Township of Mandalay on June 15, and confiscated the heroin in soap containers, the statement said.
The seized narcotics are worth approximately 550 million kyats (about 261,904 U.S. dollars), and two suspects were arrested in the case, the CCDAC said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.
