Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to send the recommendation to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to conduct recruitment examination to fill up Group A and B posts under the State Government till the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is fully functional.
“The Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, decided to write to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) with a request to conduct recruitment to Group A and B posts under the State Government till the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission is fully functional under Article 315(4) of the Constitution,” Government Spokesperson Bamang Felix said.
It may be mentioned that the State Government while responding to the Pan Arunachal Joint Action Committee’s demand for endorsing the UPSC to conduct all the upcoming examinations (which were cancelled/postponed immediately after the paper leak issue came to fore) till completion of the ongoing investigation), had assured that it will take up with UPSC to conduct the pending exams within one month.
Further, the Cabinet in its sixth meeting of the year on Tuesday discussed the under-preparation draft Bill for framing the ‘Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill 2023’.
“The draft Bill will be placed in the public domain soon to seek suggestions and inputs from all stakeholders”, he informed.
The Cabinet also gave its approval to the draft ‘Arunachal Pradesh Drinking Water Catchment Area Protection Bill, 2023’.
The proposed Bill, to be tabled in the ensuing Assembly session, is aimed at reversing the present trend of water depletion through various conservation activities and preservation of natural resources.
It envisages promoting the voluntary donation of land by the stakeholders for the protection of the catchment areas.
“Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessing rapid drying up of streams and rivers, of late, and if immediate steps are not taken to halt this impending catastrophe, the future generation would be deprived of water,” Felix said.
The Govt spokesperson also said that to strengthen the indigenous local customary delivery of justice system and the Gaon Bura and Gaon Buri institutions and the traditional village councils in Arunachal Pradesh, the State Cabinet approved an amendment to the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945.
The Bill will also be tabled in the ensuing Budget session of the Assembly.
