Agartala: A hardcore cadre of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) was deported to the Indian authority from Bangladesh through the BSF at the Sutarkandi border outpost of Karimgnaj district of South Assam. He was brought here on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

He was identified as Bidhu Debbarma (51), a resident of the bordering hamlet of Devendra Chowdhurypara of Khowai.

He surrendered to the police in Panisagar, North Tripura, in 2015. In 2019, he went to Bangladesh, where he was arrested by the Dhaka police and imprisoned, Debbarma claimed.

He was recently released from a Bangladeshi jail, and the Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) handed him over to their Indian counterpart, the Border Security Force (BSF).

Later, the BSF handed him over to the Tripura police at Dharmanagar. He was brought here for interrogation to learn details about his illegal visit to Bangladesh, the police added.
