Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has informed that the Union Government was ready to give a number of additional seats in the State Assembly and the Parliament after the solution of the decades old Naga political issue.
Addressing an election campaign rally for NDPP candidate Y. Vikheho Suw at Pughoboto local ground, which is an election district under the Zunheboto district of Nagaland, Rio on Monday informed that according to the Central Government, 20 more seats will be added to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and the number of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats for the State will also be increased to three each, following any solution to the Naga issue.
Speaking on the Naga political issue, Rio said that the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will take crucial decisions for the Nagas and he informed that the NSCN (IM) and the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Group had come to a common understanding for the resolution of the Naga issue and asked the people to be united.
On Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) demand for a separate state in Nagaland, Rio welcomed the move and highlighted the steps taken by the State Government by forming a committee and subsequently, recommending an Autonomous Council for the ENPO region realising the deficiency of development in the region.
The Chief Minister has also asserted that the NDPP-BJP alliance that continuing since 2018 till date, is going stronger and will form the next Government and told the people not to be confused about forming the Government and alliance and leadership issues.
