Agartala: Leader of Lok Sabha and Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday alleged that the ruling BJP backed miscreants has unleashed an attack on people to resist their decision of defeating BJP in this upcoming assembly election.
Addressing a press conference Chowdhury said, “When I came out of Airport, have seen a banner of Election Commission of India saying ‘Zero violence Election’. But our candidate Ashok Debbarma came under attack in his Charilam Assmebly Constituency, in Surjamaninagar four houses of Congress workers ablaze. So my first demand to ECI is to fulfill their commitment of zero violence election. ECI should ensure free and fair election as has been promised by the commission itself. ”
He however, claimed that across the state everyone is saying if poll held in a peaceful then BJP would be ousted. The days of BJP is numbered in Tripura. People are living in fear thinking whether poll will be peaceful or not.If BJP think that they have done a lot for people then why they had taken shelter of terror? Chowdhury alleged.
Their terror like activities is proving that they had not done anything. BJP’s main aim is to win the election without working for people and to fulfill their agenda so they have hired Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.
Prime Minister never spoke in Parliament but this time because of Tripura election he spoke. What BJP has done in last five years in this state? They have vanished more than 20,000 vacant posts and now recruiting through outsourcing on contract basis.
They talk about law and order but from January 28 to August 31 in 2022 around 2164 women filed complaint related crime against women. Among these 268 are cases of rape, 7 are murder after rape. Women are not safe in this state. Farmers are being deprived of everything”, said Adhir.
Chowdhury said, “People have decided to teach them a lesson and to defeat them. To resist this decision of the people, they (BJP) have carried out violence and would try to farce this election.
Modi and BJP don’t want democracy but we have to save it”.
