J P Nadda to initiate campaign of BJP in poll-bound Tripura tomorrow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is arriving here for a two days campaign on Feb 7 and 8 while Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address rallies on Feb 9 next.

Agartala: BJP national president J P Nadda is scheduled to initiate the campaign trail on Friday in poll-bound Tripura.

Nadda will address the first gathering at Kumarghat in Unakoti district followed by Amarpur of Gomati district, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address several election rallies in West and South Tripura districts during his two phases of visit.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address as many as 10 rallies and road shows in three phases of his Tripura visit.

Top BJP leaders including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Yogi Adityanath would lead the campaign for BJP candidates, leaders said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and several top leaders would campaign for Congress while CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Prakash Karat, and CPI-M politburo members including Manik Sarkar would campaign for left parties.

A host of Trinamool Congress stars including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be campaigning in poll-bound Tripura from next week, TMC Tripura state in-charge Rajib Banerjee said on Wednesday.

According to the schedule, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee and All India Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee would attend some road shows and poll rallies on Feb 6 and 9.

Along with West Bengal Trinamool Congress president Subrata Bakshi and Lok Sabha MP Sudip Banerjee as many as 37-star campaigners, including Lok Sabha MP MahuaMaitra, Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Mimi Chakraborty, Mayor of Kolkata and Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Firhad Hakim, would hold rallies in the state.
