Burhanpur (MP): Six people died on the spot and nine were injured – three of them grievously – when their pickup vehicle was involved in a collision on Wednesday with a sugarcane-laden truck between Dedtalai and Sheikhpura about 60 km from here in the vicinity of the Maharashtra border, law-enforcement authorities confirmed.
The lorry driver absconded. Labourers hailing from Sunderdev village in Khandwa district’s tribal-dominated Khalwa area – were en route to Dedtalai. The deceased were identified as Dara Singh (7), Nandini (12), Durga Kalu Tandilkar (12), Jamwanti Bai Ramesh, Parvati Ram Singh Dinkar (both 32) and Ramesh Mangal (35) – all relatives.
