Prohibitory orders in 4 districts of Nagaland for polls

According to the orders, all licensed arms unless exempted under law should be deposited at the nearest police station.

Kohima:Carrying of arms or ammunition by any person has been prohibited in four Nagaland districts following the instructions of the Election Commission of India regarding the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct ahead of Assembly polls. According to official sources, the orders were sent to the Deputy Commissioners and District Electoral Officers of Tuensang, Peren, Noklak and Kohima, According to the orders, all licensed arms unless exempted under law should be deposited at the nearest police station. ‘This order shall be applicable to all persons within the districts except the Police personnel and the security forces and the officials or personnel involved in law and order duty and that the order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall be effective till the completion of the election process within the districts,” according to the notification.
