Gangtok:Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC), Secretary Deepa Rani Thapa, has issued a notification about the Sikkim Services combined recruitment Preliminary exams and the ‘speculations and allegations about cheating with help of mobile phones and reported leaking of question papers.
The Commission has taken the matter seriously and is verifying the facts,’ says Secretary Thapa. She has assured me that appropriate action will be taken as per the findings, here on Saturday.
There were 8 thousand candidates for 60 posts in Administration, Forest and Police, spread over different centres.
However, most of the High Courts of India have given a verdict against the use of mobile phones in the examination hall.
The Invigilators appear to be oblivious to the rule page distributed to candidates. This was preceded by the Student Forum, Sikkim Democratic party, led by Rinzing Norbu Bhutia and Bandana Sharma representing, females joined by one more, who made it public outside the SPSC office that they met the Secretary as the Chairman was said to be preoccupied in a meeting.
The matter of unfair means is used by examinees. They requested for reconducting the exam. It’s not a party mission but in the interest of all the students of Sikkim.
The Forum members were allowed in the office with great difficulty, finally 2 could get to Secretary‘s Office, as the guard insisted on showing Admit Card, which implied that already honest examinees were coming to register complaints.
The observers feel that the violation of rules allowing mobiles in the exam and more was not in the good taste.
Public is posing a big question, if those who have cheated get recruited can the State rely on them for good administration, Police duties and protecting Forests, wild life and environment? CM is yet to comment on it, as also the Chairman SPSC.
