Jammu Blasts: Six injured, probe on, LG Sinha condemns, announces relief

The blasts happened ahead of Republic Day celebrations and Bharat Jodo Yatra that has already entered the Jammu and Kashmir and presently halting at village Chadwal of Kathua district.

Jammu: At least six persons were injured in twin mysterious blasts in Transport Yard in Narwal area here on Saturday.

Two explosions took place this morning in Yard number 7 of Narwal area in East Jammu.

“Basts occured in two different vehicles. Six persons suffered injuries in the explosions,” said police.

The blasts happened ahead of Republic Day celebrations and Bharat Jodo Yatra that has already entered the Jammu and Kashmir and presently halting at village Chadwal of Kathua district.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh confirmed the incident.

The area has been cordoned off and nearby shops have been closed due to security reasons.

The injured persons namely Sohail Kumar, 35 of Ustaad Mohalla, Jammu, Sushil Kumar, 26, of Prem Nagar, Doda, Vishap Partap, 25, of Kanachak, Jammu, Vinod Kumar, 52, of Chak Baktawar, R S Pura, Jammu, Arun Kumar, 25, of Qasim Nagar, Amit Kumar, 40, of Bahu Fort, Jammu and Rajesh Kumar, 35 of Bawe, Jammu, are hospitalised at Government Medical College, Jammu.

Jammu Divisional Commssioner, Ramesh Kumar and ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh visited the hospital to enquire about health conditions of injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the blasts that have taken place in Narwal, Jammu.

Senior police officials briefed the Lt Governor about the blast and on the state of investigation.

He called for urgent steps to identify and take action against those responsible.

“Such dastardly acts highlight the desperation and cowardice of those responsible. Take immediate and firm action. No efforts should be spared to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the Lt Governor told the security officials.

The Lt Governor has offered sympathies to those injured.

He also announced relief of Rs. 50,000 to those injured in the incident and said that the administration would ensure best possible treatment and extend every help required by the families.
