Nagaland CSOs urge Amit Shah for Naga political solution

Kohima: Eight civil society organisations (CSOs) have submitted a joint public demand on the Naga political solution to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The CSOs are the Nagaland People’s Action Committee (NPAC), Nagaland Gaon Burhas’ Federation (NGBF), Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT), Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Senior Citizens’ Association of Nagaland, Ex-Parliamentarian’s Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN), e Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) and the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) informed that they demanded a political solution to the Naga political issue before the election.

The statement observed that the elongated negotiations have had an immense toll on the lives and economies of the people of Nagaland specifically. 

“In light of this, the people have submitted several memoranda and representations to the Prime Minister of India, in particular, over the last few years, urging him to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” it said.

The CSOs said that “uncertainty looms large to date despite the official negotiations being concluded in October, 2019.” They also approved an earlier representation that was submitted to the Prime Minister on the same issue. 

“We assure you as the primary stakeholders that we will give our utmost cooperation towards implementation of the solution,” it added.
