Hamirpur (HP): Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which was started to compensate for the damages caused to the crops due to natural calamities, insurance of wheat crop of upcoming rabi season here can be done by December 15.
Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Atul Dogra said that Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) has been notified for insurance of wheat crop during the Rabi season 2022-23 in district Hamirpur and the sum insured is Rs.30,000 per hectare.
He said that the premium rate is 15.15 per cent of the sum assured. Out of this, the premium payable by the farmers is only 1.5 per cent. The remaining premium will be paid by the government in the form of subsidy.
For insurance, the farmer will have to pay only Rs 18 per kanal premium.
Dr. Atul Dogra said that all farmers including sharecroppers and tenant farmers, who grow wheat crops, can get their crops insured. The respective banks or financial institutions will automatically insure the crops of the loanee farmers.
If a loanee farmer does not want to take advantage of this insurance scheme, he can submit his declaration in this regard to the concerned bank branch or financial institution.
The Deputy Director of Agriculture said that loanee/eligible farmers can get their crops insured through the concerned insurance company’s office or Lokmitra centers, banks, or through online mediums along with their identity card, Aadhaar card, and documents of their land.
