Imphal: Manipur Governor La Ganesan Wednesday extended his warm greetings to the people of Manipur the on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival 2022, which celebrates on the second day of the month of Hiyangei.
Governor La Ganesan, in his message, said that ‘Ningol Chakkouba’ rejuvenates family ties and strengthens the bonds of love and affection between brothers and sisters, mothers and daughters and fathers and daughters,helping in promotion of unity and integrity in society.
“It is a very happy and significant occasion on which the married women come to their parental houses along with their children and enjoy a sumptuous feast and receive Dakshina or gifts as a token of love and affection. Let’s hope that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit with the involvement of different communities in the state to bring peace, prosperity and peaceful co-existence amongst all,” the Governor added.
“Ningol Chakkouba is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur celebrated every year. It reinforces the most revered bond between brothers and sisters and between parents and married daughters,” said the Chief Minister in his message.
The festival strengthens ties within the family. Though the festival was originally observed by the Meitei community, it is now celebrated by other communities too. Outside the State, our diaspora led the celebration. The festival also promotes the feeling of peaceful co-existence and harmonious living by reaffirming our faith in the traditional values of family, Biren noted.
“On this occasion, let us imbibe the ideals of the festival so as to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives, the Chief Minister added.
In his message, Power Minister Th Biswajit Singh said Ningol Chakkouba is a special day for the ‘Ningols’ and on his auspicious day, married women are invited by their brothers and parents to a feast and given ‘Dakshina’ at the parent homes.
The day further strengthens the bond of love and affection among the members of the family, which ultimately helps in promoting unity and integrity in society, the Minister said.
Education Minister Th Basant, in his message, said the basic essence of the festival is tightening the bond of love between married ladies (Ningol) and their parental families. It focuses on love between brothers and sisters and signifies the love between families.
“Let’s make this day of Ningol Chakkouba more meaningful by celebrating it in its true sense with the theme of integrity and peaceful co-existence. Let’s imbibe the ideals of this festival to foster the spirit of unity, harmony and goodwill in our lives,” the Minister said.
Textile Minister Nemcha Kipgen said, in her message, that Ningol Chakkouba festival bears a symbolic meaning of love between brothers and sisters and signifies the love between families.
“May this festival continue to bind all the people of our state as one close knit family coupled with a spirit of love and oneness,” the Minister prayed.
In his message, Awangbow Newmai, Water Resource & Relief and Disaster Management Minister, said Ningol Chakkouba is a special day for the Ningols. The festival is celebrated in the theme of strengthening the bond of love and affections among the brothers and sisters, daughters and parents of a family.
“May this year’s celebration bring happiness, peace, harmony, love and the awareness of unity to all,” the Minister wished.
