Kohima: Dimapur Railway Station has been included in the redevelopment plan undertaken by Indian Railways to upgrade 200 stations across India into world-class standards, an official said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at the VIP lounge of the Dimapur Railway Station, Additional General Manager of NFR Rahul Gautam informed that the Union Government has prepared a master plan to revamp 200 stations, where the overhead spaces will have world-class facilities including waiting lounges and food courts, besides amusement facilities for children.
Dimapur Railway station figures in the list of the selected stations.He said the Indian Railways reportedly has a big plan for the Northeast Frontier Railway’s Dimapur station, which is the second best earner after Guwahati.
A project to turn the station into world class standards, fashioned on the line of international airports, is in the works.
He said the purpose of his visit was to discuss the upcoming plan regarding the location, land requirements and others. He said the target has been set to transform Dimapur station into a world-class station by December 2024.
