Houses inundate in Dimapur town by rain water

Kohima: Heavy rain over the past two days in the southern parts of Nagaland, including the business hub Dimapur, where several houses and business establishments have been affected, causing untold hardship in the lives of the more than a hundred residents.

According to official sources, many areas of Dimapur town, including East Police colony, Vilhume Colony, and SM Colony were inundated by the rainwater affecting more than a hundred families.

Sources said that the Dimapur district administration and Dimapur District Management Authority, also helped by 43 Assam Rifles personnel swung into action to rescue the marooned families, where the joint team rescued and evacuated around eight persons trapped in their homes and the Assam Rifles provided food to the affected people.

Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places was very likely as predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Wednesday to September 16 next.
