Imphal: All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur on Friday condemned an attack on a scribe while covering an anti-drug campaign at Hatta, Imphal East district.
In a joint statement issued here, the organisations stated that the victim W Johnson was covering an anti-drug campaign by various social organisations and the youth wing of the BJP. Even though he identified himself as a scribe he was badly beaten up by those who were supporting the alleged drug traffickers.
In the attack, eight persons including the scribe were injured. Police said two persons allegedly involved in the attack were arrested. During the drive, large quantities of drugs and other banned tablets were seized.
