Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of veteran journalist Nongmaithem Deben at his residence, Keishampat on Thursday morning. He was 75.
Popularly known as ‘Khollao Deben’, he worked in different newspapers in different capacities during his career spanning around four decades since the 1970s.
“He was one of the founding members of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Manipur Press Club. Till his last breath, he worked tirelessly for the cause of the media fraternity. In his death, our State and the media fraternity have lost an upright journalist,” said the Chief Minister in his condolence message.
