Thoubal: The Food Safety Administration Thoubal Monday carried out a special drive inside the DC Complex as well as outside the premises of various offices located in the District.
Under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, who is also Chairperson District Level Advisory Committee, The Food Safety and Standard Enforcement carried out an inspection drive inside the DC campus, and other office campuses such as the District hospital canteen, District Session Court complex, District Transport Office complex, District Cooperative Society, and CMO complex shops to check and seize contraband tobacco products including betel quid, Pan masala, Gurkha, khaini and other containing tobacco.
Most of the canteen and shop inside the DC campus has already stopped selling such banned item but a few shops were found selling such items. Designated Officer and FSO have been directed not to sell such items. Further, if any of these shops are found to be selling such tobacco-containing food then needful legal actions will be initiated as per laws. Such Drive will be carried out continuously.
Earlier the Chairperson District Level Advisory Committee on Food Safety Administration on July 29, 2022, issued an order banning the sales and consumption of tobacco and nicotine-containing food items.
