Thoubal: The District Health Society,Thoubal Wednesday observed the World Environment Day 2022 at the DHS Conference Hall, CMO Complex Thoubal.
The programme was organised under the theme “Only One Earth, Let’s take Care of it”. The programme was attended by D, Chief Medical Officer Thoubal, Y. Nokul Singh as chief guest, DPM Thoubal, Ch. Basanta Singh, and Asst. Nodal Officer, CMHA Dr. M. Rakhesh Meetei, attended as president and guest of honour respectively.
District Community Mobilizer, Md. Riyas Sheikh, welcomed all dignitaries and participants attending the function. Dr. Y. Nokul Singh, in his speech, stressed the importance of tree plantation at maximum level and the importance of rejuvenation of catchment areas. He also appealed to the participating Community Health Officers to plant trees including fruit bearing trees at the surrounding areas of their Health Wellness Centres.
Dr. M. Rakhesh Meetei highlighted the effect of global warming, climate change and its effect on human health. He further stated that cases of many reproductive age group women undergoing IVF due to infertility is on the rise. Cases of non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, stroke and cancer cases are also on an increasing rate in the state. These health issues can be easily prevented by changing the lifestyle. He also appealed to the participants to adopt renewable source of energy.
The programme was attended by Community Health Officers and staffs of CMO Complex Thoubal.
Later, Chief Medical Officer Thoubal launched the fruit bearing tree plantation at CMO Complex Thoubal. The tree plantation will be continued at Health and Wellness Centres in the District during the month of June.
