Smuggled teakwood worth Rs 22 cr seized in Manipur border

Imphal: Shangshak Battalion foiled cross border smuggling of teakwood in Punamram in Kamjong, Manipur and seized teak wood worth Rs 22 cr on Thursday last.

Assam Rifles said troops intercepted 30 Trucks in Punamram area carrying smuggled teakwood from Myanmar.

Along with the trucks 17 traffickers were apprehended.

The seized teakwood along with apprehended smugglers and seized vehicles were handed over to Range Officer, Forest Department Kasom Khullen for further legal action.
