Berlin: Europe aims to get prepared for “as many contingencies as possible” in its defense strategy and reduce the all-time dependence on NATO, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht said on Sunday.
While speaking on the final day of the Munich security conference 2022, Lambrecht was asked on the goals of the European defense policy.
“We want to be ready for as many situations and contingencies as we can as Europe, so that we do not have to rely on NATO at all times. And I believe that this a good and valid approach, and this is where we are going with our strategic compass,” Lambrecht said.
She noted that the European defense is more complex that it seems, given that besides NATO there are other security formations in the region.
