Arunachal logs 152 Covid-19 recoveries, 62 new cases

Itanagar: Persisting its downward trend, Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday registered more recoveries than fresh infections as it witnessed 152 people getting recuperated from the disease and 62 others contracting the virus.

However, the state did not report any fresh casualties and its death toll stayed unchanged at 294, a senior health official said. With the detection of new cases, the Northeastern state’s case tally increased to 64,066 and the total number of recovered cases rose to 63,233. Consequently, its active caseload has further plummeted to 539, he said.

Of the new infections, Itanagar Capital Complex accounted for the most at 13, followed by Longding and Tawang at eight each. Among other districts, East Siang, Lower Subansiri and Upper Siang recorded five cases each, and Lohit and Dibang Valley four each.

The new cases were found out of the total of 898 samples tested for Covid19 during the past 24 hours which took the cumulative count to 12,55,711. Thirty-five of the total cases turned out to be asymptomatic and 27 symptomatic.

The day’s positivity rate was 6.90 per cent, which figured at 8.87 per cent the previous day. On the other hand, the state-administered more than 3,000 Covid19 vaccine doses to its eligible citizens in the last 24 hours, with a large chunk of the vaccines (over 2200) being received by the youngsters of 15-18 years. The state has administered more than 16.10 lakh vaccine jabs to its citizens to date.
