Imphal: YAS and Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip assured to ease any restrictions on movement carrying goods of public at Khudengthabi AR post along the Imphal-Moreh Highway after proper discussion with the IGAR South.
He said that the Chief Minister has already discussed the issue of restrictions imposed by Assam Rifles on transportation of certain commodities including clothes and eatables at Khudengthabi with the IGAR South and the restrictions will be relaxed comparatively than before soon. At the same time, earlier restrictions which were imposed by both AR and the Forest Department in transportation of furniture items from Moreh will also be lifted from Saturday.
The Minister made the assurance during the Public Outreach Programme organised by the District Administration, Tengnoupal as part of the 70th Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav at the border town of Moreh.
Further stating that the PHED is trying to provide drinking water to every household in the border town, the Minister added that the department will commence implementation of the Har Gharana Jal scheme in the town. He also said that a testing laboratory will soon be set up to test the quality of water provided by the department.
Further in his speech, the Minister also assured construction of a transit Hostel for Health Workers and staff of other departments at Tengnoupal.
He also assured that the condition of roads belonging to the interiors of the district such as Kwatha, Satang and Machi will be improved under the PMGSY scheme before the coming month of March.
Since the district is inhabited by different communities, the Minister urged the people to support the efforts of the present government to bring equal and unbiased development in the district.
Saturday’s programme was also attended by Education Minister Rajen, Agriculture Minister Lukhoi, Deputy Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly Robindro, Lilong AC MLA Antas Khan among others. DC Tengnoupal Lourembam Bikram gave the welcome address of the function.
Altogether 39 government department stalls were opened during the programme to ensure doorstep provision of benefits. At the same time health cards, school uniforms, gas stoves, Old Age pension books, etc were also distributed to beneficiaries.
